Today, Saturday, we flew from Lima to Cusco going from coastal Peru at sea level to the Andean mountains at 11,300 feet. This is the area dominated from the 13th to 16th centuries by the Incas who left things like terraced farming. On the way we stopped at a Llama and Alpaca farm where they raise them and practice the traditional arts of weaving and textile arts. The animals are so super cute I took dozens and dozens of pictures. Fortunately that is easy to do with digital cameras.
One of the women working there was in traditional garb with child.
We continued on and saw the Sacred Valley of the Incas prized for its agriculture which fed much of the Incan empire.
We have stopped in Urubamba in the Sacred Valley at the Hotel Sol y Luna. I'll post pictures of this place tomorrow.
